Vetri · From India's Finest Farms
The rice an Indian kitchen actually runs on.
We buy straight from farming families in the Cauvery delta, mill to order, and ship 20 lb bags to homes and grocers across America. No middlemen between the paddy field and your rice cooker.
What we carry
Five varieties, each one for a different job
South India does not have a single rice. It has one for the everyday lunch, one for the breakfast batter, one for the biryani pot. Here they are.
Which one do I buy?
Start with the grain
In the trade, rice is judged by the shape of the grain before anything else — length decides how it cooks, and how it cooks decides what it is for. Here is every variety we carry, drawn at the same scale.
Farm to doorstep
Four hands touch this rice. That is the whole point.
Most imported rice passes through a broker, an aggregator, a repacker and a wholesaler before it reaches a shelf. Ours takes a shorter road.
Thanjavur & Trichy
The farmer
Paddy bought at the farm gate from growers in the Cauvery delta — the silt plain that has grown India’s rice for two thousand years.
South India
The mill
Milled and graded to order, then packed into 20 lb bags under the Vetri label. FSSAI licensed, lot-coded, sealed at source.
Chennai → Newark
The crossing
Containerised out of Chennai and cleared through US customs and FDA prior notice by our own team. Nobody repacks it in between.
Plainsboro, New Jersey
Us
Warehoused in central New Jersey and shipped out to households and grocers — the same sealed bag that left the mill.
Why we buy direct
A fair price at the farm gate is not charity. It is how you get good rice.
When a grower is paid properly and paid on time, they can afford to harvest at the right moisture, dry properly, and hold back their best lots instead of selling everything into a commodity pool. Buying direct is the only reliable way to keep quality in the bag.
- Paddy purchased at the farm gate, no commission agent in between
- Single-origin lots — each bag traces back to one delta, one season
- Milled to order, so the rice is not sitting in a warehouse losing aroma
- FSSAI licence 12426999000362, exported under our own label
